• Information platforms that combine databases, analytical software, crowd-sourcing, human computing, machine-learning, and the internet; and new ways in which these systems can be used to do science.
• Methods and uses of analyzing mitochondrial DNA.
• Analysis of large data sets and how these analyses are changing the scientific method.
• Computation in nature (e.g. information transfer, self-organizing patterns, emergent behaviors, swarm intelligence).
